About me

An experienced counsellor working with Individuals and Couples

Is something worrying you?
Life can feel unmanageable at times. Emotions can become overwhelming and relationships can feel like hard work. Perhaps life simply lacks clarity.

I will help you explore whatever is troubling you. I help you understand your experience, develop coping strategies and come up with your own solutions on how to deal with them. And if it is clarity that you seek then I can also help you get that.

My style of working?
The needs of every person and every couple are unique and different. So although my style is integrative, it is usually adapted to meet client needs. I will use a style that will suit the issues you raise and orient myself around your own preferred style of working. The pace of our work will be set by you and your emotional readiness for change.

Sometimes the presenting issue are different from where the real struggle is. We may have to adapt what we do based on what we uncover. Any change in direction is discussed with you and is always done with your knowledge. I regularly conduct reviews to ensure that we remain on target for what you want from the sessions.

How many sessions?
This is dependent on issues you bring, your readiness for exploration and your needs as a person. You can come to the first session simply to explore if we can work together or it is entirely possible that a single session is all you need. In all cases, we set a review at a maximum of 6 weeks to ensure that the work we are doing is suitable to your needs.

What you can expect?
You can expect a professional, confidential, non-judgemental and safe environment in which to explore your feelings and your issues. As the sessions progress your awareness around your behaviour will increase, and you will gain insight. This by itself can often drive change. Sometimes, I ask my clients to do exercises at home. This is optional and is designed to assist in the work we are doing. They help us understand patterns of behaviour and increase your awareness which will in turn assist in instigating the change you might be seeking.

What kind of issues do I work with?
I work with anxiety, anger, relationship issues, couple issues, drug and alcohol addiction, internet addiction, sex addiction, self-esteem and self-worth, bereavement and various other issues. Often these are interlinked in my experience.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
