About me
Please see my short video below to get a sense of who I am.
I can help you if you are feeling confused, sad, detached or anxious? Perhaps you are feeling stuck but you’re too ashamed or embarrassed to tell anyone about it? You may be putting up a front for others but inside you’re feeling lost, confused and like you’re barely holding all the pieces together. Relationships may be difficult at home or work or you may be struggling to let go of a difficult experience. Perhaps you are struggling to find yourself in this hectic, fast paced culture we live in.
Whatever you are going through, by searching for a therapist you really have made a choice today to take the first step towards moving forward with your difficulty. You may have questions about therapy and whether it will help you or whether it will even be feasible given your other commitments. We will find a way to make therapy work for you.
My role
As a therapist I am here to support, challenge and work with you towards making sense of your difficulties. I will walk with you around or through your pain to reach a point of feeling like you understand the ‘why’ and ‘how’ to manage your difficulties. Therapeutic tools will be learnt during therapy when we both agree that you feel safe and confident enough to use them to address the things, that right now, may feel too overwhelming.
I very much understand how difficult it is to access therapy based on my experience of working with many people from various backgrounds in both private practice and the NHS. I am passionate about this and have worked in services for Deaf people and am keen on helping people from BAME groups to access therapy. I always ensure that therapy is bespoke, which means I use therapy flexibly rather than as a rigid protocol driven approach.
In this sea of therapists, I want to reassure you that as a chartered clinical psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) I have the required level of competence and ability to help people like you who are experiencing psychological or emotional distress. I am also trained in EMDR.
My approach
Like everyone, I have experienced life’s ups and downs and have practised what I will ask you to do. I approach therapy from a place of authenticity, trust and empathy whilst holding true to the matter at hand. I will provide you with a safety net and I am here to support you and guide you along a journey that will not only get you through this stuck point but will lead to self-growth. I am experienced in working cross culturally and take care to respect and work within existing belief systems which may be spiritual, cultural and/or religious.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can go to my website and send me a message using my contact form which will help you describe the main issues.
