About me

Hello. My aim as a therapist is to help make the therapeutic experience a meaningful one for my clients. I appreciate that it is not easy talking about personal issues and stressors and because of that I strive to work at a pace that feels comfortable to my clients, within a warm, empathic and confidential space.

Working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, I am able to help people with a wide range of psychological difficulties. I use several approaches to help inform my work with clients including:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Mindfulness
  • Compassion focused therapy (CFT)
  • Narrative therapy
  • Solution focussed therapy (SFT)
  • Positive psychology
  • Counselling

I am particularly interested in trauma, both single event and multiple traumas. However, since I have worked with clients since 2001, I am pleased to be able to offer effective psychological therapy for a number of mental health difficulties for young people and adult, including the following:

  • Anger
  • Anxiety (phobias, health, panic, OCD, social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Depression
  • Eating difficulties
  • Grief and Bereavement
  • Low self-esteem, shame, self-criticism
  • Medically unexplained symptoms
  • Pain
  • Parenting
  • Perinatal distress
  • Personality disorders
  • Psychosis
  • PTSD
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Self-harm
  • Stress and worry

I understand that it might not be easy to label an experience into one of the categories above and am happy to work with clients who feel a sense of emptiness, sadness or who feel stuck. I am experienced in working cross culturally and take care to respect and work within existing belief systems which may be spiritual and/or religious.

I am happy to have a free brief chat about my services to those who may be interested.
