Greta Coutlis Reg. BACP, Dip. Counselling
Hello I am Greta Coutlis and thank you for visiting my profile. I have been working as a psychotherapist for many years and my experience working with clients is, when given a comfortable space and a lot of respect and care, they are able to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.
I aim to provide a comfortable and safe place where deepest feelings and thoughts are explored and help you to make sense of them. This process usually brings relief from the symptoms, mood improves, and you may start looking at opportunities to improve your quality of life.
How I deliver therapy
I offer my sessions from an easy access location. The room is quiet, comfortable, spacious and confidentiality is protected. It is accessible through local transportation, and there is roadside parking.
There is an initial assessment of fifty minutes, where there will be a chance for both of us to meet and talk about the concerned issues, about how many sessions you have in mind, find out about how I work, and how I may be able to support.
I offer both short term therapy and long term therapy. In short term therapy, the aim will be to focus and resolve a specific issue. Therefore the therapy is focused and brief. The number of sessions range from six up to sixteen sessions. There is an option for long term therapy which is about exploring issues at a slower pace, you might want more time to feel that you can open up to share intimate and personal experiences with me. In between I offer frequent reviews to discuss how the therapy is going, and if you are willing to continue. The long term therapy is a limited time therapy too.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Family Therapy completed at King's College London. I completed my four-year training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy in 2010. I am a qualified counsellor in Transactional Analysis. I am a registered member of the MBACP, and a contractual member of the United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis.
I have experience working for many years in Primary Care NHS, offering therapy for depression and anxiety in various GP surgeries. Currently I work privately, and also as a contractual counsellor working with various organisations supporting people who grieve, people with gambling problems and people with personality disorders.
Working in various organisations, in different locations, and various populations, and also having supervisors who work in different approaches from mine, helps me to be a very diverse therapist, open minded, and adaptable to meet the needs of individuals. I also enjoy working with people from various cultural backgrounds.
How I might be able to help you
My philosophical stance which is at the core of Transactional Analysis is the life position of 'I am Okay, you are Okay'. Therefore I see myself as an equal partner to you. We will both be involved fully, you being the expert of yourself and the situation you are in, and me standing alongside to offer my skills, feedback, and information that may benefit you.
I also work in a relational way, which means that you have the opportunity to explore and practice healthy patterns of communications and relationships with myself and subsequently with others. Eventually you will learn to trust yourself and feel able to communicate and relate better with your family, friends, colleagues and others in the wider community.
I work in various ways, most of the times we will sit and talk, sometimes I might invite you to join me to draw, paint, or use objects or move about. Sometimes you might want to role play a difficult communication that you may experience. I also use humour and laughter when appropriate.
