About me

Hello I am Greta Coutlis and thank you for visiting my profile. I have been working as a counsellor/psychotherapist for many years and my experience is, when people are given a comfortable space and a lot of respect and care, are able to move on, and find solutions to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.

There may be times you feel distressed, anxious, low in mood, or a sense of loss of direction and purpose. I provide a safe place where your feelings and thoughts are explored and considered. This process can bring relief from your symptoms, help you improve your mood and enhance your quality of life.

How I deliver therapy

I offer my sessions from an easy access location near Nottingham City centre. The room is quiet, comfortable, spacious and confidentiality is protected. It is  accessible through local transportation, and there is parking space on site.

There is an initial assessment of fifty minutes for us to meet, talk about the issues of concern to you, explain how I work and identify how I may be able to support you.

I initially offer six sessions of therapy to focus on specific issues and explore options to resolve them. It will also be a time to get to know each other and find out if we can work together. At this stage, the therapy will be focused and brief and at the end of the sessions you will hopefully feel relief from the presenting symptoms.

If during this time you feel that you have more issues to discuss and decide you would like further sessions, we can agree to sign up for six more followed by a review. It is often the case that people want longer to talk about themselves, share their experiences and consider how to make changes.

I also offer the opportunity for long term therapy for deeper reflection and change. This can be time limited too depending on requirements, and frequent reviews are offered throughout.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Family Therapy completed at King's College London. I completed my four-year training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy in 2010. I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor in Transactional Analysis.

I am a registered member of the MBACP and a contractual member of the United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis.

I have many years experience working in Primary Care NHS, offering therapy for depression and anxiety. Currently I work in private practice with a wide range of issues and as a contractual counsellor working with people who grieve, people with gambling problems and people with personality and developmental issues.

I also enjoy working with people from various cultural backgrounds and diverse life experiences.

How I might be able to help you

I mainly practice Transactional Analysis.  I believe and follow the philosophical stance of 'I am Okay, you are Okay', which means that I see you as an autonomous individual capable to think and make decisions. I see myself as an equal partner to you. We will both be involved fully in the therapy, you being the expert of yourself and the situation you are in, and me standing alongside to offer my skills, feedback, and information that may benefit you.

I also work in a relational way, which means that you have the opportunity to explore and practice healthy patterns of communication and relationships within the therapy.

I do a lot of work with people who are grieving about the loss of their loved ones. I give the space to explore what it means to lose someone, and how life is without them. I will be here to listen to you, hear and attend to your emotions that may change suddenly, and help you to deal with life more effectively.

I work in various ways, most of the times we will sit and talk, sometimes I might invite you to join me to draw, use objects or move about the room. Sometimes you might want to role play a difficult communication that you may experience.  Whenever it is appropriate I use humour and laughter which might help to brake the ice, and bring warmth and hopefulness into the therapy room.
