Gregor MacAdam Adult & Adolescent Psychotherapist UKCP registered
To begin with I provide two or three exploratory sessions. I work in a non-judgemental and empathic way and believe it is of value to work to understand both conscious and unconscious relational dynamics between ourselves and others. I aim, with these exploratory sessions, to gain an initial understanding of you and to help you gain an increased insight into yourself and the issues you are struggling with. It is also an opportunity to think about whether psychotherapy with will be of help to you and something you wish to consider.
I have over 20 years experience providing therapy within the NHS, non-statutory sector and privately. I work with people with emotional difficulties such as depression, phobia's, anxiety, relationship and identity difficulties and difficulties with anger and violence, as well as those who feel more generally unfulfilled, unhappy or lacking in motivation and meaning in their lives.
I now work in full-time private practice and previously I was Psychotherapy Clincial Lead of a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services of the NHS North East London Foundation Trust. Over 20 years I clinically led and supervised many psychotherapy and counselling services for people with severe and less severe emotional and mental health difficulties.
Earlier in my career, I qualified as a humanistic counsellor and worked for five years within a residential therapeutic community supporting young people with alcohol and substance misuse difficulties and for three years I clinically supervised this service. I have also provided an Attachment-Based Psychotherapy Service for adults with addiction problems and I have had experience in providing psychotherapy for those with learning disabilities who have a history of sexual abuse and those with a history of sexually offending behaviour.
Sessions are confidential and are at a frequency of one, two or more sessions per week. I provide the option of working face to face or using the couch and in some circumstances I work via telephone or video link. I work from home within a private, quiet and separate space, with a private entrance and waiting room.
I also provide supervision.
