Graham Payne MBACP Registered
A very warm welcome and thank you for viewing my profile. My aim in counselling is to help you in a kind and compassionate way whatever your problem.
Rest assured I will do my utmost to help you through your problems, however painful this might be for you. We will work at a pace to suit you, with respect and compassion in a private setting and with confidentiality. My training as an Integrative counsellor gives the flexability to use several models of counselling to best help you. As a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) I work to thier standards and code of ethics.
I work from home in a quiet location, with good parking, or just a short walk from South Molton town centre. South Molton is within easy reach of Barnstaple, Torrington, Bideford, Tiverton and the surrounding Exmoor areas.
My background is from rural roots, having been farm reared, and I have had a full and rewarding career in farming for many years. The desire to switch from livestock to people came about after witnessing suicide and depression amongst my fellow farmers and in rural communities. This has been backed up by my years of voluntary work with the charity "Samaritans".
I feel the following quote from Carl Rodgers sums up my thoughts on counselling
"When I have been listened to and heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on. It's astonishing how elements that seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens, how confusion that seems irremediable turns into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard. I have deeply appreciated the times that I have experienced this sensitive, empathetic, concentrated listening"
