I am an experienced accredited counsellor /psychotherapist. I offer a safe, non-judgemental and supportive space to individuals and couples. I work to the needs of the individual/couple and offer weekly, fortnightly, monthly and ad hoc supportive telephone work.
I was trained in a psychodynamic orientation, thus look at how past events can influence our current situation and in particular how we adopt destructive patterns of behaviour. I aim to help the individual discover these patterns and find alternative ways to reach where they desire to be. I also believe that different approaches are needed for varying situations and thus work using various methods to suit the individual presenting issue. I also look at dreams as a source to the unconscious. My approach is working as a joint venture with me as a guide. I encourage curiosity and active participation.
I view the individual in a holistic manner and look at societal and cultural pressures on the individual. I have a particular expertise in cultural identity, internal racism and life transitions. I have extensive experience working with complex cases and undertake reports for immigration appeals.
Counselling/psychotherapy is a very personal experience. I appreciate that the decision to consider counselling for many can be a difficult step and has been reached as a result of a great deal of soul searching, anxiety and hope.
While reading this you might be thinking:
- I'm not sure if I really need this.
- I know I need to speak to someone but, I'm not really sure what about.
- I just know something is not right.
- I have to see a counsellor for my course/ for a fostering/ adoption agency.
- I have been asked to by a partner, relative, friend, work colleague.
What ever your reason, a big thanks for taking the time to read my page. However qualified a therapist is, it is the relationship between the client and the therapist that is of the utmost importance. I am very approachable, warm and flexible. I offer a free 30 minutes telephone consultation to decide if I am the right person for you. I look forward to hearing from you.
