I am an experienced and qualified counsellor able to help with a wide range of difficulties including family and relationship issues, anxiety and depression, bereavement, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders and disability. I am also qualified to supervise other counsellors.
Talking about your difficulties, and feeling that someone is listening, will make a huge difference to your ability to cope with life by increasing your understanding of yourself, raising your confidence and self-esteem, and improving your relationship with others. I work by listening to you and helping you to develop new ways of thinking about your problems and relationships.
I have worked for many years with both adults and young people to help them regain confidence and self-esteem, and to understand themselves in order to live their lives in a happier, more effective way.
I am experienced in working with people who self-harm or have felt suicidal and, whilst respecting client confidentiality, in linking up with other agencies where appropriate.
I offer short-term counselling for specific problems, or longer term open-ended counselling if you would like to work at a deeper level. Sessions will be for 50 minutes at a regular time each week.
As an experienced therapeutic Counsellor I have worked with adults and young people in a variety of settings including educational and charitable organisations as well as in my private practice. I am also experienced in working with people who have a variety of special needs, including Autism, ADHD, physical disability and life-limiting conditions.
I am able to work creatively to facilitate communication.
I work according to the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am also a qualified Supervisor working privately and for an organisation.
As a BACP Accredited Member and BACP Registered Counsellor, I provide a caring, professional and confidential service, and firmly believe in the benefits of one-to- one counselling.
If you feel I can help, please either phone me or email me to arrange an initial appointment. If I am unavailable when you telephone please leave your details on my answer phone and I will return your call as soon as possible.
The initial appointment will allow you to explore what you need from counselling.
