About me
Hi I'm Gina. The start of a new year can be tough. There' a lot of pressure to 'get into shape' and be the best version of yourself. This can be hard if you struggle with your body image and can increase your dissatisfaction. You may start restricting food, binging, over-exercising or becoming preoccupied with a certain part of your body/face. These traps can be hard to get out of and can be signs of low self-esteem, eating disorders and body dysmorphic disorder.
January is often a time of reflection and alcohol can come under the spotlight. How do you feel about your relationship with alcohol? Have you felt guilty or ashamed about your drinking over the past year? Are you contemplating making changes but don't know where to start?
The holiday period can exacerbate pre-existing mental health conditions. The expectation to socialise more can take you out of your comfort zone and cause an escalation in symptoms of: obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), health anxiety, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and generalised anxiety.
If you recognise yourself in the previous paragraphs, I want you to know that help is available. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is the NHS's recommended therapy for the issues mentioned. You can come and visit me at my office in Ilkley or stay in the comfort of your own home with an online session.
Please get in touch by text/email, I'd like to help!
