About me
Hello my name is Gill, I am an Integrative counsellor offering Counselling to individuals and couples in Gravesend. I am based in the Riverview Park area which has close access at to the A2, Dartford, Medway towns and surrounding areas.
At some point in our lives we may experience emotions and situations that are hard to make sense of. We may experience many different feelings which may include feeling confused, alone, depressed, anxious, angry and frustrated. Counselling provides a space for people to talk and explore their thoughts and feelings and can empower them to lead more fulfilling lives. Integrative counselling means that I have been trained in more than one theory. By using differerent techniques from these approaches enables me to adapt my method to suit my clients needs.
I believe people to be their own "Expert" and I work with a holistic approach. By working together with you will identify solutions and strategies to help you make changes in your life. My role as a Counsellor is not to give advice but to listen and help my clients gain insight into their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
I have an accepting attitude and I am genuine and open towards my clients, placing great emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, as this in my experience leads to the most successful outcomes. I provide a safe, warm, non-judgemental environment for my clients to be able to talk in strictest confidence about any issues or problems they may have. I have many years experience working in primary care (NHS) with men, women and young adults presenting with various issues and problems. Some of which are depression, anxiety, anger management, bereavement, guilt, fears and phobias, relationship issues and clients contemplating bariatric surgery. I am also a qualified IAPT counsellor delivering Counselling for Depression and am working in the NHS.
If you are not sure if I would be the right counsellor for you I would answer that question by saying I will be happy to speak to you on the phone to discuss how counselling could benefit you and there is no obligation. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I adhere to their Ethical Framework for good practice.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
