Adults & Adolescents

About me

I specialise in anxiety, depression and low self-confidence. With particular focus on factors such as self-criticism and shame, which are  crippling by products of such difficulties. By focussing on and changing these factors there will be an ease in anxiety, depression and improved self-confidence. The overall aim is to help you to be well and live well. I work with Adults and adolescents.

I specialise in adolescent wellbeing and counselling. I aim to enable young people between ages of 12-19 to improve their own mental health and wellbeing. While supporting parents to be able to help their young people. Further information will be provided in a free consultation , for both parent and young person.

So how do I do this

I specialise in a therapy called “compassion focused therapy”. This therapy is built around human neuroscience and the way in which we regulate our emotions. The exciting thing here is that we can actually change how our brain responds to our struggles and create mental tools that allow us to manage our mental well being now and in the future.

I do this by incorporating a series of experiential techniques that will be practiced in and out of sessions. The aim is to train our minds to respond with more compassion, move from self-criticism and develop a more responsive mindset. The aim is to support you to become more equipped in coping with life’s tendency to be unpredictable and difficult.

I strongly believe in having a space to work through difficulties in a non judgemental and comfortable environment.  As well as giving you ways to respond to these difficulties and ease them.

What to expect

First, I would ask we have a free telephone consultation so I can discuss with you what your needs are. This will allow me to work out if I’m the best person to help you with this and if the therapy I offer will suit the difficulties you are having. There is no obligation to continue.

If you decide to go ahead

If you decide to give things a try, I will ask you to attend an initial appointment. I will ask that you to fill out some details for me. and will send these prior to our our initial appointment. You can be assured that any information you provide will be protected under my privacy policies. The details of this can be requested and sent to you.

Young people/ adolescents

I have a deep passion to help young people to be well and live well ! Let’s face it in this day and age our young people face challenges and hardships just like everyone else. In recent research we are now finding the mental health of our young people has become significantly poor, with teens being more vulnerable to depression and anxiety. Young people are plagued with self-criticism and low self-confidence, which in turn has a devastating impact on their mental well-being and general ability to cope with the difficulties they face. Often our young people are ignored or struggle in silence, as well as parents finding it hard to find someone to help their teen.

Information/ support for parents

I have lived experience of what it’s like to struggle with a teen with mental health problems. I can assure you there is no judgement on my part and I hope in time to establish a support group for parents, in order to share your difficulties with other parents experiencing the same worries and difficulties.

In the summer I will be offering parents a compassion focussed 8 weeks welling being course to help you cope. This is £200 for 8 weeks. When you have a more relaxed and less critical mind, you're more equipped to help yourselves and our teens.

This course is also open to any adults seeking some peace and better well being.

Individual adult counselling

My services are open to anyone who is struggling with their mental health or are experiencing difficulties in life.  I offer a space to adults to work through a variety of difficulties with the same aim of finding some clarity, better well being and the confidence to manage your own metal well being.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
