Gillian Owen - Counsellor (Adv Dip) Clinical Supervisor (PgCert) RegMBACP
Counselling for individuals and couples, Clinical Supervision, Mindfulness, CBT, Hypnotherapy and Mentoring/Life Coaching.
I understand how difficult it can be making the first steps in taking control of your life and overcome challenges and difficult situations. It may be that your difficulties lie within relationships - with yourself or others, or you may feel anxious or depressed, generally feel unable to cope or may have experienced difficult life events. You will feel listened to and begin to develop new capabilities and perspectives, increasing self confidence and self awareness.
My practice draws on many years of counselling experience, which enables me to place my client at the heart of all the work I do. I am qualified and experienced in working with evidenced based therapies which are approved by NICE - this means that that the counselling approaches I use have research evidence to prove they reduce symptoms of depression.
I have a warm, positive and down to earth approach and aim to provide an environment which is safe and comfortable, enabling you to explore the things that trouble you. In this safe, relaxing atmosphere and using a blend of therapeutic approaches, you will begin to feel empowered and ready to make the changes you know you want to make. Increasing your self belief, exploring possibilities and cultivating your inner resources are just some of the aspects we, together, can work with.

Mindfulness is a mind-body approach to wellbeing that can help you change the way in which you think about experiences. Simply put, Mindfulness is the ability to leave the past behind us, while also not worrying about the future. Instead we learn to live in the present moment, where our real lives are unfolding moment by moment.
Mindfulness helps reduce stress and anxiety, and also helps lift our mood, removing the dark cloud. I offer one to one Mindfulness therapy as well as development sessions.
I also offer Mindfulness training days throughout the year, which are both informative and enjoyable. For further details please feel free to contact me.
Hypnotherapy is a supportive therapy which can be used to look at past issues such as childhood memories, present issues such as exploring thoughts, emotions and feelings and also to consider future issues such as building confidence or tackling a phobia or assertiveness It can be used on specific issues, such as, breaking habits as in stopping smoking, feeling less anxious or negative eating habits.
Sessions are tailored for the individual's needs. A consultation session is advised prior to therapy in order to fully understand what goals the client wishes to achieve and develop and a therapeutic treatment plan. There is no charge for this consultation session.
Hypnotherapy Sessions - £50 (One hour)
Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy Session - £95 (Two hours)
Healthy Eating / Slimming Hypnotherapy Sessions - are tailored to suit each individual, costs can be discussed during the no obligation consultation session.
Sometimes in life we can face some difficult decisions or want/need to change our direction. It could be for a variety of reasons such as children leaving home/going to University, managing relationship breakdowns or changing jobs/careers or facing redundancy. Whatever the reason for change of direction, Coaching can help you achieve your goals by helping you define the direction and develop strategies for getting there. It is possible that by working together collaboratively, I can help you explore options, stretching beyond what you may have tried or thought about before.
Life Coaching Sessions cost £40 and last for one hour.
