MA BACP (Accred)

About me

I am a Relate trained BACP accredited counsellor and have been working with couples and families for over 20 years. I am based in St Albans, with convenient on street parking. I offer counselling to individuals, couples and families in a supportive and safe setting where uncomfortable and difficult feelings can be explored together.

As a BACP Accredited counsellor I am bound by its ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy and subject to the professional conduct procedures.

In offering Relationship Counselling I provide an opportunity for couples and individuals to explore and make sense of relationship issues in a non-judgemental, safe environment.

The sort of issues that couples come to counselling with are:

  • Communication difficulties
  • Concerns about sex and intimacy
  • Affairs and the repercussions’ that they bring
  • Parenting issues and parenting styles
  • Becoming parents
  • Redundancy, job loss and financial worries

Couple counselling can provide an opportunity to create a more nurturing and satisfying relationship that better meets the needs of both partners.

It may be that you are considering separation, in which case, having a non-judgemental, safe environment in which to openly discuss your concerns, in particular how to tell your children, can be extremely helpful.

The sort of issues that bring families to counselling include:

  • Communication breakdown
  • Changes and life stage issues
  • The teenage years
  • Managing multi-generation families

Family counselling offers the opportunity to air hurt and angry feelings in a supportive setting and begin to negotiate and establish new ground rules for a more harmonious family life.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
