Gill Roulstone - MBACP (Accredited)
I am a fully qualified and BACP accredited counsellor working one-to-one with young people aged 18+ and adults.
I offer you a confidential and non-judgemental safe space in a quiet residential area. Here you can look at whatever's troubling you from a fresh perspective, and work through concerns that might be difficult to share with family or friends.
Just speaking openly and freely to a therapist can be helpful in itself. Counselling also helps to understand where a particular belief, feeling or thought pattern comes from.
My main areas of experience include working with generalised anxiety disorder, depression, coping with loss, and building self-esteem.
How I work
Having initially trained in Person Centred Therapy, I draw from other approaches when suited to your individual needs. I am also happy to include creative techniques once our relationship is established. Examples of these are:
Focusing: This is about clearing a space to connect with our felt sense, accepting what's really bothering us, and locating where we are feeling the tension in our bodies. We may begin by using a relaxation technique. This can help you to stay working within your main reasons for coming to counselling.
Timelines: These are a way of reviewing your story so far. They can be helpful if you're feeling stuck or repeating negative behavior patterns. You may go on to consider how, or if, these past events may be still influencing you today, and whether your reactions to similar present or future events can be changed to produce better outcomes.
Sandtray: This is a method that may be suitable for you. It works by positioning your chosen symbolic objects in sand to represent your thoughts or feelings. It can be a powerful and cathartic experience if you feel you've reached a stalemate in your process.
What happens next
After our initial telephone or email contact we will both have a clearer idea about whether we may be able to work together.
I'll then offer you an initial half price 50-minute session, anytime on a Thursday or Sunday.
My premises are a 7 minutes' walk from Eastcote tube. There's also free parking outside.
