About me

Hello, I’m Gill.  A really warm welcome to you.

I know it can be extremely difficult to take that first step in seeking help, but no matter what you’re feeling or experiencing, together we can find a way through.

Difficult times can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, panicky and with a deep sense of sadness and loneliness; but it’s never too late to seek help.

“Being vulnerable is not a sign of weakness but it’s our greatest measure of courage”              (Brené Brown)

Counselling offers a safe space to explore your inner most thoughts and feelings; with patience, self-compassion and kindness.

You’ll be met with warmth, care and support. I will really listen; ensuring you feel fully seen, heard and understood.

Together, we can work on the issues that prevent you from truly embracing and enjoying life; in order to move you forwards, to a place of love, happiness and fulfilment.

This inward journey of self-discovery will help lead you to greater self-awareness, clarity and contentment. Enabling you to make different choices, take action and create lasting positive change.

About me

I love working with people of all ages, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. Such diversity has, and continues to enrich both my work, and me as a person.

I am a very experienced counsellor; having worked with adults, families, children and young people, both therapeutically and professionally, for over 25 years.

In addition to running my own private practice, my work has involved working for: The Primary Care Trust, Cruse Bereavement Care, Young Carers, Grief Encounter, Counselling Agencies, Primary and Secondary Schools (across North/East London, Hertfordshire and Essex) and a London Local Authority Occupational Health Team.

I offer Therapeutic Play for Children.  An Integrative Counselling Approach with Adults, Couples Counselling and Supervision to counsellors. I use many aspects of Psychology in my work, alongside talking therapies and creative interventions, which offers an alternative when we can’t quite find the words.

How it works

Safe and Confidential - Sessions are held in a relaxed, safe and private space. Understanding and trust will form the foundation of our work together. All aspects of our journey will be held in the highest confidence.

Face to Face, Zoom and Telephone sessions - Weekly sessions allow you to be fully supported. They build momentum in the motivation to change, grow and heal; so that you can experience the changes you’re longing for.

Location - For those who prefer in person sessions, my practice is 2.5 miles from the Harlow M11, Junction 7 exit. I’m within easy reach of Harlow, The Lavers, Matching Green, North Weald, Epping, Hatfield Heath, Moreton, Ongar and Chelmsford. For online or telephone sessions, I can work with clients from any location.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Please note, although my counselling room is on the ground floor, a wheelchair user may find my pebble drive difficult to manoeuvre, but access is suitable for most people's needs. However, we can discuss accessibility more on initial contact.
