About me

Hello and welcome. I am an addictions specialist and stress management counsellor.

I am a qualified and accredited addictions specialist, (FDAP) with 20 years’ experience.  A stress management counsellor, insured and  registered counsellor with BACP. I specialise with addictions and stress management issues, as well as dealing with difficult issues from your past that keep getting in the way of your happiness.

If you are experiencing painful emotions and memories, negative self-talk, not wanting to feel, or being overwhelmed by sadness, then I can help you to make peace with the past and let go of the pain.

"Every addiction starts with pain and ends with pain" Erkhart Tolle.

Do you want to stop the obsessional behaviours and thinking around drug or alcohol use, or cut down, then I can help you?  I can help you to maintain a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle.

I can help you to manage the stress in your life, whether work related, relationship issues, loneliness, financial problems, unemployment, health concerns, loss, isolation and the changes in your life.  We can look at ways for you to build your coping skills, I offer resilience work (how quickly you get back up after life’s knocks), to learn healthy ways to relax, to improve your sleep, get to know your reservoir of potential, and many more interventions are offered.

I understand what it means to run out of cope and feel overwhelmed by life’s stressors. I offer tailored interventions that meet your personal needs and reduce the stressors in your life. I can come along side you and understand how you view yourself and your world. I offer a confidential, safe space for you to explore your beliefs, habits, behaviours and thoughts that are getting in the way of you achieving a satisfying quality of life, which is manageable and enjoyable.

Are you affected by a friend, family member or loved one’s drug or alcohol use?

The burden of coping with someone else’s problem substance misuse can be tiring, stressful, anxiety provoking at times and most of all it can be an isolating experience. I support individuals, offering a quiet, calm space, offering advice, information about drugs and alcohol, identify ways to manage boundaries, improving coping skills, and making time for you in your life and exploring better ways you can care for yourself.

Getting started

To get started please email me or call me to set up a free initial telephone consultation, to make sure I am the right person, and talk about what you want from the counselling. If you are happy to continue, we can set up a second session by telephone or face to face.  These can be weekly, fortnightly and can be agreed together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been an addictions specialist for over 20 years and passionate about the subject. I have been working in substance misuse charities, day program, and organisations, as a counsellor and recovery worker.  Helping clients deal with  their stress levels and building up inner strength and resources has been a big part of my counselling.

I studied for 4 years at the University of Bath, on a Foundation Degree in Addictions Counselling, which I enjoyed. They had the same inspiration as me that hope and change are possible, and on completing this course, I am proud to be an accredited member of the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Practitioners (FDAP). I adhere to their code of Practice.

I am an individual registered member of British Association of counsellors and Psychotherapists.
