About me

I am an accredited Counsellor having worked for prominent mental health services for more than 20 years as an addictions specialist. I have successfully counselled a wide range of people from all walks of life and different backgrounds.

Some of the many issues I have encountered as a therapist include post traumatic stress, bereavement and loss, sexual/psychological and other forms of physical abuse, lack of assertiveness, distress, anxiety, depression, addiction, bullying, relationship and family issues.

I currently manage my own practice with associate trainees and fully qualified counsellors. My main focus during the therapeutic process is the here and now, the clients thought feelings emotions and behaviours including environmental experiences.

I work using a Person Centred approach while integrating aspects of other theories when and where relevant. To help each person work towards their potential I incorporate the values of my core beliefs as a Counsellor. These are to value and respect the client with unconditional positive regard, to be congruent whilst trying to facilitate the empathic process.

In the first session we will complete a brief assessment to understand what past history is relevant and to get a sense of what the clients wants to achieve by attending counselling. The first session offers time for the client to ask questions about the process and to settle in. Please call me on 07738 000 134 or send an email for more information.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
