Geri Walker MBACP BA (Hons)
Hello and welcome. Many people imagine counselling to be a difficult process. It can be and it can also be an enjoyable, enriching and transformative experience.
I am an empathic, supportive, and intuitive Psychotherapeutic Counsellor who trained in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling at Re-Vision. I offer short –term ( 8--12 sessions) or open-ended confidential counselling sessions at my private practice in Hackney, East London and in North London.
People come to counselling for a range of reasons. You may feel sad, depressed or anxious, or want support during a crisis or difficult time. Maybe you have been affected by bereavement, loss, illness, abuse or trauma. Perhaps want to explore your identity or your thoughts and feelings in more depth. It’s likely you would like to change something in your life
Everyone is unique and an integrative transpersonal approach to counselling acknowledges this by incorporating theories and methodologies from a wide range of modalities including psychodynamic, developmental, humanistic, Gestalt and transpersonal approaches. What this means is that I adapt my approach to best meet your particular needs and circumstances. When working with you I am mindful of the impact of past experience as well as what is happening in your life now and your hopes and fears for the future. I am attentive to the connection between mind, emotions and the body. I will work with you to help you uncover what may not yet be obvious and conscious. Connecting with these deeper aspects of yourself can help you to experience life more fully, uncover hidden potential and understand what is blocking you. These unconscious aspects may speak to us through our dreams, our imagination, our intuition, and our body. The counselling process and relationship can help you uncover root causes of your problems, find new ways of dealing with them and access a sense of inner peace.
It is the relationship between the counsellor and client that is central to the success of the therapeutic process. I strive to meet you with an open heart and an open mind. I will work with you at the pace and level of challenge that feels right for you. When working with you, I also pay attention to what is happening in our therapeutic relationship as a way of helping you to deepen your understanding of what may be happening in your relationships outside of the room. It can feel daunting choosing a counsellor and so please feel free to contact me, via the links on this page to ask any questions you may have or call me on 07968 372369. If you then decide to arrange a first session, this is an opportunity for you to explore if you feel comfortable working with me.

MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority.
