About me

I work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, ethnicity and sexual orientation who are struggling with anxiety, depression, feeling sad, low mood, family and relationship issues, low self esteem, work issues, panic attacks, seasonal affective disorder, anger management and so on.

In view of the current Covid-19 Corona Virus crisis, I am seeing all clients remotely via online video or audio or telephone.

Clients are requesting Facetime, Skype, Whatsapp etc as well as telephone. Online chat (such as WhatsApp) can be an option especially if privacy at home for sessions is an issue.

A few years ago I took professional training to become qualified to work online.

After the first session I will send a copy of our working agreement.

We need to make sure that it is appropriate for you to work this way. If you are already vulnerable, in crisis or at risk I may need to signpost you to other services such as Samaritans.

Fully qualified, Integrative Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor working with individuals and couples.

My training and experience allows me to draw from a range of theoretical and philosophical approaches including Psychodynamic, Post Modern, Existential, Phenomenological, Humanistic and Person Centred.

This means that I am interested to understand what it is like to be you, what are the assumptions and expectations that inform how you respond to current situations, how do you manage your emotions and thoughts.

In the course of my ongoing professional development I have taken additional training working with couples, CBT; Hypnotherapy; Creativity and Play Therapy, ASSIST suicide intervention and working remotely with online Video, telephone.

Training, qualifications & experience

BSc Honours Psychology, MSc Psychotherapy and Counselling, Postgraduate Diploma Psychotherapy and Counselling, Diploma in Clinical Supervision.

Certificate in working online - includes Video, telephone and email etc

Continuing professional development (CPD) includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Couples Counselling, working with sexual issues, Creativity and Play therapy, ASSIST suicide intervention, etc

In addition to private practice my experience includes working with the NHS in a GP Surgery, in the mental health charity, Mind; the bereavement charity Cruse, Fountain Centre charity for those affected by cancer, Place2Be Creativity and Play therapy with primary school children.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
