About me

Hello my name is Georgina and I am a qualified and registered (UKCP) psychotherapist and counsellor. I work from a quiet and relaxing private practice in Ovingdean, Brighton (just a 5-minute drive from the marina) - however due to COVID-19 I am currently only offering video or telephone call counselling.

I have been engaged with personal development for over two decades and have been working relationally and professionally with others since 2002 while opening my psychotherapy practice in Brighton in 2012.

Some of the issues I work with include:

  • anxiety,
  • depression,
  • eating disorders,
  • stress management,
  • antenatal depression,
  • postnatal depression,
  • life crisis,
  • intrusive thoughts,
  • childhood trauma,
  • repressed anger,
  • low self-esteem and
  • relationship difficulties.

Having benefited from a 5-year integrative psychotherapeutic training at the CCPE London, I can create a therapy and approach that is tailor made to your personality, life-history and whole being.

When we are provided a certain quality of support and attention, we can begin to relax into the space, knowing we are safe to explore the areas we have spent so long running from. It is in the environment of feeling accepted and unjudged that we can unlock our past traumas and wounds and begin to heal from the inside out.

I am an advocate of integrating mindfulness and meditation in one's life, building a personal daily wellness routine and getting out into nature a whole lot more.

I am registered with various private healthcare insurance companies including AXA PPP, Vitality Health, Aetna Global Benefits, Aviva and BUPA.

I'm very happy to have a quick chat over the phone before booking your initial appointment.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
