About me

About Me:

I am a humanistic integrative counsellor, trained in Person Centred, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Psycho-spiritual approaches.  I am also a Somatic Shamanic Practitioner, and Matrix Re-imprinting with Emotional Freedom Technique.

I've had previous careers in the British Army, Police, Education, fostering and a previous business in Complementary Therapies for both Animals and People.

What’s Available:

  • Counselling For Adults individually
  • Humanistic Integrative (Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Person Centred and Psycho-spiritual)
  • Short term counselling (6-10 sessions) and ongoing counselling if required.

What to expect:

  • Our first session will be an assessment, to assess your needs/if I can support you best
  • 6 to 10 counselling sessions are recommended initially, and there is ongoing support if required
  • End your sessions any time you wish to

Training, qualifications & experience

Expertise
I am a Registered Member of the BACP and have recently applied for their Accreditation status having over 600 supervised client hours. I work mainly with adults, supporting those dealing with common issues such as anxiety and depression focusing on Inner Child work.

I studied with the CPCAB in Humanistic Integrative Counselling: Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Person Centred Therapy (TCL4), Psycho-Spiritual Counselling (PCL5) and Therapeutic Counselling Supervision (TCSU-L6).

To support Inner Child work further, I became a Matrix Reimprinting with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Practitioner in 2022 with Karl Dawson and Somatic Shamanic Practitioner in 2023 with Christine Holt.

Experiences

I worked for Steps to Wellbeing (NHS Dorset), Help! Counselling: for young persons (Glastonbury) and as a Counsellor (Penn Hill Surgery, Yeovil). I additionally trained as an NHS Health Coach for Behaviour Change, created and ran a Mental Health Support Group and counselling service for Penn Hill.

I later worked for Dorset MIND in 2019 supporting Blue Line Services and ran their LGBTQ support group. In 2021 I became a Certified Online Counsellor for an EAP (Employee Assist Programme) Service and later set up in private practice in 2023 were I support HealthHero (EAP), Leonardo Trust, and BetterHelp.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
