About me
Hello, I'm Gemma, I am an experienced psychotherapist, counsellor & mental health consultant working in private practice to support clients with a range of mental health presentations.
I offer my support with a range of issues, including addiction, anxiety, body image & disordered eating, bereavement, co-dependency, depression, personality disorders, relationship difficulties, survivors of sexual assault, survivors of emotional or physical abuse and trauma.
My ethos is that our mental health is just as important as our physical health, and we should feel comfortable accessing help and support without stigma or prejudice for doing so. We all have mental health, so let’s look after it!
My approach.
I'm a friendly, experienced therapist trained to MSc level in Person Centred & Experiential Therapy which means that I work with you to help re-frame and process your experiences without judgement.
I believe that you are the expert on your own life but that therapy will help you to make sense of relationship difficulties, difficult experiences or patterns of behaviour and help promote better mental health and wellbeing in your day to day life. Your safety and confidentiality are the centre of my work at all times.
My ethos is that our mental health is just as important as our physical health, and we should feel comfortable accessing help and support without stigma or prejudice for doing so. We all have mental health, so let’s look after it!
I work to support clients with a range of mental health presentations including: Addiction, anxiety, depression, body image and disordered eating, bereavement, co-dependency, personality disorders, relationship difficulties, survivors of sexual assault, survivors of emotional or physical abuse and trauma. I often work with clients who have come through the NHS system and not found it to offer the help they needed.
I offer both short and long-term therapy to suit the clients needs and budgets. I offer concessions to those on income support & trainee student therapists.
In addition to being a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) I am also UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist. I adhere to the UKCP & BACP Codes of Ethics.
Getting started.
I am currently offering Online/Telephone therapy, whilst face to face sessions are currently paused due to COVID-19. For those who are nervous about trying or switching to online therapy, or those who aren’t as comfortable with technology, I offer a free set up service ahead of your appointment to help you get started and comfortable with this change in service.
Online therapy is an effective and convenient alternative to traditional face to face therapy that can be accessed at a time and place to suit you. I accept virtual referrals from anywhere across the UK.
For new clients I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss if therapy is right for you. Please email me to book a consultation, therapy session or with any further enquiries.

UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist
Registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
Member organisations
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UK Council for Psychotherapy
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

In addition to therapy, I also work as a Mental Health Consultant. I'm passionate about encouraging properly regulated, high level mental health support within organisations.
