About me
I am a BACP accredited therapist based in Buckingham and the founder of Bourton Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work with adults on a one to one basis and passionately believe that by supporting someone to explore their anxieties and difficulties in a calm and trusted environment, can be life-changing.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, and asking yourself why others don't seem to face the same struggles as you?
Things may feel confusing and conflicting, and you might be struggling to work out what the 'right' decision is, which can feel exhausting and lonely.
It is possible to have a different way of approaching things, and feel confident in the choices you make.
We can work together to explore what is going on for you, and how you would like things to be, even if you are not sure what that is right now.
May be you are feeling anxious, and want to feel more confident, or you would like to feel excited about the future instead of dreading it. These are things that we can look at together.
I provide an empathically, supportive and safe environment, and I am committed to providing therapy in a confidential and non-judgement environment. I have experience of working with people with a wide variety of issues, and I am happy to hear about what is troubling you.
If you are wondering if therapy is for you, I offer a free 30 minute initial meeting, where we can meet and I can explain the way that I work, while giving you the opportunity to ask any questions.
The way I work.
I am a qualified therapist, and an accredited member of the BACP. I work in an integrative way and incorporate the Person-Centred approach, along with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and the Psychodynamic approach, which means that I can work according to your needs. I aim to develop a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship, where we can explore how things are for you. We move at your pace, working through what you choose to discuss at each session.
Who I work with
I have successfully worked with people who have a wide variety of difficulties, including work at a mental health charity, for short-term, but also long-term work dealing with anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, and many other issues.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
