Gemma Austen BA fdsc MBACP
As a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist I work collaboratively with clients to arrive at their personal goals. CBT is both challenging and liberating and I understand the emotional and financial commitment in undertaking a course of CBT and that clients hope to make positive changes and enjoy the results of the process.
I offer behavioural therapy to children and young people along side my adult work. I can liaise with schools to implicate strategies that may assist children or young people with behavioural needs to cope better in school. I also work with adults and youngsters with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
My work is relevant to clients suffering:
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- low self-esteem
- relationship issues
- infertility and those who wish to make positive changes in life but may need support with confidence, motivation, public speaking and self acceptance.
I offer an initial assessment appointment followed by a weekly appointment for as long as a client feels the process is helpful. CBT is not a 'quick fix', but an explorative journey which will require the client to undertake some 'home-work' in between sessions.
My work is based in the therapy centre, however most of my work with children takes place at school or home. Please contact me with any enquiries.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
