Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

It is important that you find someone who you feel you can work with and that we feel we can work together, therefore I offer an initial session of up to 1 hour at a cost of £50.00 so that we can explore this together.

I offer face to face , Video and telephone counselling.

All follow on sessions will be £50.00 for 50 minutes. I offer long and short term counselling dependant on your needs.

A reduced fee can be negotiated for a few places where low income is an issue.

A reduced rate for students is offered at £35.00.

If a session needs to be cancelled I ask for 24 hours’ notice whereupon we can discuss a replacement session. Outside of this the missed session will need to be paid for.

When I work

My working hours vary and mainly fall between Monday and Thursday inclusive at varying times of day and evenings. Anything outside of this can be discussed.

Further information

I offer Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and work in an integrative way. This means that, although I was trained using a Gestalt Model of Counselling, I am not fixed in my style of working and my work is informed by more than one theory. Despite my extensive training I do not place myself as the expert in terms of you as an individual. I see our relationship as co-created where we work together to be where you want to be.

Over the years, one thing I have experienced personally and in my work with others is that the most neglected aspect of our lives is often ourselves. We spend so much time looking outside and ignoring the fact that we are not bottomless pits. We need resourcing, replenishment and sometimes repair. The words I hear most when asking people what they do for self-care are, “well I used to…..!”

I am passionate about my work and about supporting people to fulfill their potential and find meaning and balance in their lives such as they are today, whilst respecting what has gone before.
