About us

Free2BMe is a UK-wide specialist counselling, therapy and wellbeing service for neurodivergent people, or those who are in the early stages of exploring whether they may be neurodivergent.

We understand that being neurodivergent means that counselling and therapy may need a different, more tailored and adapted approach. One of our key strengths is that most of our team are openly and proudly neurodivergent ourselves.

All our practitioners are neurodiversity affirmative, which means we do not see neurodivergence as a problem to be fixed. We work to help neurodivergent clients understand and work through the challenges that come with being neurodivergent in a society that does not always understand or accommodate different ways of being, processing information and experiencing the world. We aim to support our clients to define what a meaningful neurodivergent life looks like, access necessary support and accommodations, self-advocate, identify and use strengths, and live authentically.

We never practice conversion therapy approaches such as ABA, and do not accept practitioners who would endorse this way of working with neurodivergent clients.

Training, qualifications & experience

Our counsellors, therapists and coaches are selected for their expertise, approach and knowledge in working with neurodivergent conditions. The majority of our team are either neurodivergent themselves, or have extensive lived and professional experience via parenting, loved ones, or work experience.

Our associate practitioners are registered, qualified and insured and their credentials are checked and verified on a yearly basis.

We also offer training, consultancy and mentoring for individual practitioners and organisations wishing to understand and improve practice in this area, and improve the accessibility of mental health and wellbeing services for neurodivergent people.

Our diverse team's specialisms include autism, ADHD, specific learning difficulties, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, executive function, work and study coaching, trauma and PTSD/CPTSD, addictions and substance misuse, anxiety/phobias, mindfulness and positive psychology, parenting support and coaching for neurodivergent/neuromixed families, LGBTQIA+, and working with structural oppression and the impact of ableism.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
