Dr Freddie Byrne - Clinical Psychologist
54 Quarry Street
I am an HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist experienced in working with individuals and families experiencing a range of difficulties.
Alongside independent practice I work as a teaching fellow on a clinical psychology doctorate training programme, training the next generation of helping professionals. I have worked across a variety of settings including adult mental health services, children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and neurological rehabilitation.
I am currently working with individuals and families at my consulting room in Guildford Surrey.
Difficulties I can help with:
I believe in working in a respectful and strength focused way, to help people to feel better and live a life that is rich and meaningful. Whilst I see everyone I work with as unique individuals and not in terms of a label or diagnosis, people often come to therapy with difficulties that are sometimes referred to in the following ways:
- Depression, low mood or feeling sad
- Anxiety, panic, phobias or worry
- Anger or other emotional problems
- Sleeping difficulties
- Adjustment following stroke or brain injury
- Relationship issues
If you are unsure if I can help, I would invite me to give me a call and talk it over on the phone. If I'm not the best person to help, I will always try and recommend the right service or professional for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
As a clinical psychologist, I am able to draw on a range of psychological approaches to suit the needs of the individual or family. The approaches that I use most frequently are systemic therapy, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
Alongside private practice, I currently work at a University on a teaching programme for clinical psychologists. Previously I have worked in a neuro rehabilitation service for adults and young people who have experience stroke, brain injury and other neurological problems. I also have experience working in NHS mental health services for adults, children and young people.

The consulting rooms I typically use in Guildford are not wheelchair accessible. However if this is a need then I would find an alternative room so that this was not a barrier to accessing help and support.
I can be flexible in my availability.
