About me

I counsel adults, teenagers/young adults, children, couples and families. I also offer 'Couples in Crisis' intensive therapy. I live in Mid Devon, and work from my home. I offer one free initial one hour session, with no obligation, to give you the opportunity of meeting me before deciding if you would like to continue. I have daytime and evening appointments available.

Many people experience difficulties in their lives and coming for counselling offers the unique opportunity, time and space to explore problematic life experiences, thoughts and feelings, within the safety of the counselling relationship. Counselling can help you by looking at issues that are currently affecting you or issues from your past. I will work with whatever issue you bring to counselling, without any judgement. Together, through the counselling relationship, I will support you in finding solutions, along with gaining new tools and strategies to face your difficulties, thereby giving you the freedom for a positive way forward.

I offer couple counselling and family counselling. This gives the opportunity of exploring your relationship, and the time and space to talk through any difficulties or conflicts, in the safety of the counselling relationship. Having gained new insights from this exploration, I would then support you in working towards finding new solutions to help resolve the conflicts or face the difficulties you are experiencing, whilst reinvesting in the relationship for a positive way forward.

'Couples in Crisis' intensive therapy offered, which usually takes place over two days. If you are currently experiencing a crisis in your relationship, this intensive therapy gives you an opportunity to come for two separate days, both days will have 3 hour sessions to look at the difficulties you are experiencing and to find a way forward.  Please see my website for more details.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
