About me

Hello and thank you for viewing my profile.

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counselling Psychotherapist and an Accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists).  I am Integrative in Practice,

I offer therapeutic counselling sessions for adults, children and young people, in a confidential and non-judgemental environment in Dovercourt and Frinton-on-Sea.

I am able to offer short focused or longer term counselling, depending on what your needs are. All of this will be discussed in our first appointment and where you can make the decision if I am the right counsellor for you to work with.

I also offer Couples counselling where my aim is to offer a safe and confidential space for you and your partner.  Through our sessions I will facilitate an environment where you can both explore and progress in your relationship.  Often people see couples counselling as a last resort and you may be experiencing long-term difficulties.  I can offer support to couples in clarifying a way forward in their relationship or support to those who wish to separate.

In my work as an Integrative Psychotherapist I use a non-directive approach, holding the belief that you are the expert on yourself.

Life can feel over whelming at times and counselling can provide a confidential space in which to clarify our feelings and gain insights into who we are and what we want from life. Through counselling I believe individuals can be supported towards a deeper awareness of self.

I work with clients to explore personal concerns, finding ways to resolve or manage them, in an open, non-judgmental manner, whether the issues are current or throughout your life including childhood.

Counselling does not involve giving advice or directing you to a particular course of action.  It aims to provide an environment where you can find these answers for yourself and draw on the internal resources you already have.  People seek counselling for many different reasons and making that decision to seek counselling is a brave step.

Choosing a counsellor is a very personal matter, so if you would like to contact me for further information and to see if I am the right counsellor for you, then please do.

Please note: During sessions my phone is not manned, but please leave a voicemail and I will call you back.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
