About me

Welcome.

By arranging an appointment you are one step closer to feeling happier. It is my mission to help you find the freedom to let go of your worries. Whatever has brought you here, be assured that you will find the safe space you need to make changes in your life or find the answers to the questions you are searching for.

Young People - I support children/young people over 10 years at my home office and also outdoors in nature. I have over 25 years of working with young people, firstly as a teacher and then therapeutically as a young persons counsellor.  I have worked as a schools counsellor in many schools and colleges before setting up my own private practice.  When I work with young people I also work with the family as a whole. Parents/ carers often ask 'how can we help?" The first session I offer is for parents/carers to discuss their concerns for their young person. I then work with the young person offering review sessions where parents are invited to join as we go along. I also support parents / carers in-between sessions in order that they can support their youngster as changes are made. In addition I can liaise with staff at schools / colleges and attend school meetings. When working with a young person I use a variety of different creative methods to help them to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I can also work outdoors with young people from my outdoor garden space.

Adults - I offer sessions to adults both indoors at my home office or outdoors. I currently offer Nature based sessions in my outdoor garden space or at Chorlton Water Park, South Manchester on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

In Nature therapy we use nature as a tool to explore and inform the work. Being outside can really help to support a clients emotional and mental health. What we are seeking from counselling is often reflect back to us in nature allowing us to explore our thoughts and feelings. Walking in nature can be incredibly soothing and can help us to manage difficult and painful issues. Nature based therapy works particularly well for people who are neuro divergent and may find working in a room difficult. Despite being outdoors sessions are fully confidential.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
