About me

Hi, I'm Flavia, I'm an Integrative and EMDR Therapist.

I have 20 years experience in counselling and psychotherapy, and I have worked with adults, young people and children in my private practice in Brazil and the UK.

My passion has always been to work with people, supporting personal growth and helping people develop happier and more meaningful lives, providing a safe environment where they can find inner strength and resilience.

My clients tell me that I am warm, insightful and understanding.

I have worked with people of all ages and backgrounds and can help you with a variety of concerns. In our counselling sessions I am focused on you and your experience. We will work together to understand and explore your thoughts, behaviours and feelings and reflect on your life experiences.

I offer both long and short-term individual therapy, generally the length of therapy is something that we would discuss in our first session. In the case of longer term therapy, we would frequently review as the therapy progresses to consider what work remains and when might it's appropriate to conclude therapy.

Getting started.

I understand that taking the first step in coming to counselling can be daunting. Asking for support can be stressful and may make you feel vulnerable and self-conscious. However, taking that step may be key to a new beginning.

I look forward to your contact, whether that be by telephone or email. I will offer you a "pre session" (free of charge and no commitment involved), to discuss your requirements/ expectations and how these may be worked through in therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Psychologist graduated in 2002 in Brazil and a Psychotherapist in the UK. I belong to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Society UK (BACP). This means that I abide by their ethical framework while working as an Integrative Therapist and that I undertake frequent CPD and receive regular supervision to make sure my work is clinically safe.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
