About me

Hi, thank you for visiting my page.

I completed my degree in Psychology in 1983, but I had been interested in therapy, mental health and yoga for many years before that.

Since then I have built on my knowledge of theories and tools for helping people, and worked in many areas of mental health. I have also completed many courses in counselling approaches and techniques, specialising in humanistic, client centred therapy. This provides a broad base into which other systems have been included, such as Psychotherapy, Trauma therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, Solution Focussed therapy, and relaxation techniques.

Compassion, acceptance, and understanding are the mainstays of my practice. I have also learned a great deal from working with clients over the last 20 years.

People I have worked with tell me I am calm and understanding and while working with me they have found confidence, insight and self understanding and been able to move forward in their lives.

I work with people with all types of emotional distress.
Some people are experiencing grief and loss, some are depressed or anxious, some are worn down from coping with long term health problems which cause loss of confidence. Men and women of all ages who are struggling with long or short term problems can find help and new coping skills with me.

I can also help people who are confused about their feelings or experiencing numbness of feelings; people who feel they have to be ok to keep everyone else ok, and people who find talking about their feelings difficult.

Sometimes it seems like your problems are insignificant when compared to those of other people, if  your issues are important to you, they are important to me. No problem too small if it is impacting your life negatively. Don't struggle on alone when help is here.

I worked for an NHS service for many years and became concerned about the very long waiting lists. I set up a private practise so that when someone has the courage and energy to ask for professional help or support they can get that help quickly.

I provide telephone, WhatsApp, Zoom and face to face counselling.

It is a milestone to realise that it is time to ask for help. It takes courage to make the call, I understand how that feels, so you can also text me if that is better for you.
Most people need some help at some point in their lives, strong people are often the last to ask for it.

Face to face in counselling rooms £40 for 50 minutes. Cash, cheque or internet banking.

Telephone counselling £40 for 50 minutes. Payment by internet banking.

Zoom, WhatsApp counselling £40 for 50 minutes. Payment by internet banking.

I have an arrangement for  keyworkers, and people in financial difficulties.

I can offer weekly and fortnightly sessions.

I am happy to do single sessions if that suits your needs.

I do free initial consultations by phone (20 minutes).

Face to face initial consultations costs £20.

Part of this fee is invested in supervision and further professional training and development.

Payment at end of session or after prearranged phone session, please.
We can arrange a time to speak at your convenience.
