Hi my name is Fiona and I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I understand you may be going through a difficult time at the moment and may feel unsure about who to talk to, or what it is that you need. Maybe you have been struggling for a while and have wanted or tried to talk to friends and family about how you feel, but sometimes that isn't easy or possible. When we don’t know where to turn, we can struggle on alone, putting on a brave face, when really what we need is to talk to someone and be able to be honest about how we are feeling and feel heard and supported.
How does counselling help?
Counselling offers a confidential and safe therapeutic relationship where we can share what we are going through without feeling judged. It can help us when we feel seen and heard, maybe for the first time. It can help us look at things with a new perspective and learn new ways of managing through difficult times. It can help us make sense of things again, help us think more clearly. It can help us get back in touch with who we are and begin to listen to our needs and make changes that are right for us.
What I can offer you
I offer a therapeutic relationship in which I am friendly, professional and caring and I will listen and support you through your counselling journey. I understand that you may feel nervous about having counselling and I want to assure you that we will go at your pace. My main focus will be putting you and your needs at the centre of our work together.
I will offer you a space where hopefully you will feel that you can be open and honest about what is going on for you. We will work together towards your goals which might include getting to know yourself and your situation better, feeling more confident in making decisions and changes in your life, or maybe you just want a place where you can offload or tell your story. I will listen to you compassionately and be supportive in helping you move forward.
I am a person-centred counsellor and this means that I am interested in you as a whole person and what has happened to you that has led you to feeling the way you do, rather than just the symptoms that you are experiencing.
I have experience of working with and helping a wide range of clients and issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, trauma, stress, work-related stress, relationship issues, family issues, bullying and low self-confidence and low self-esteem.
Counselling sessions are for as long you need them. Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly. We will review the therapy together as we progress through the sessions to make sure you are getting what you need and that it is working for you.
If you feel that you would like to take that next step and talk to me, then I offer a free initial 20 minute telephone or Zoom session. This is a chance for me to find out more about you and what brings you to counselling and I can tell you more about how I work and I can also answer any questions that you may have. You can then decide, with no obligation at all, whether you would like to book your first session with me. Please phone or text me on 07361 255262 or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more and book in the initial free 20 minute telephone or Zoom session. If I am not available, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible and within 24 hours.

I am passionate about working in this way and have seen how it has benefited many clients. Within the service I worked with clients long-term and short-term with issues such as bereavement and loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, work-related stress, relationship issues, bullying and low self-esteem.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
