About me

Feeling anxious when comparing yourself to others? Do you look around and feel like everyone else has made it and you aren't where you're "supposed to be" in life? Maybe you’re not sure what you want from life anyway. We can work together on the challenges you're facing.

I understand what it feels like to live with the weight of other people's and societies expectations on you. Life can feel like a checklist someone else has given you - getting a good job, a house, having lots of friends, a relationship and a family. You might fear that someone is going to find out you don’t fit that mould and that no one will understand you.  It can be frustrating and isolating when you want to question your life or live outside of what other people consider "the norm".

Clients I have worked with have said therapy has enabled them to accept there is nothing wrong with them or the way they want to live their lives. Having explored what they truly want, they have been more confident in themselves and able to communicate their opinions and choices. It's enabled them to realise their responsibility is to be authentic to themselves and to let go of managing other people’s emotions and expectations.

As well as being a counsellor, I have worked in the NHS for over a decade helping people to tell their stories.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
