About me

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults and young people in central Edinburgh. I provide a friendly, professional and confidential counselling and psychotherapy service to both individuals and couples. In addition, I also offer a number of additional services including clinical supervision and training.

Feeling anxious, depressed and desperately need someone to talk to? Wanting to break free from the things that are hindering you and discover a more positive sense of self?

At some point in our lives we all need a helping hand. It can often be easier talking things through with someone professional, who is objective and removed from the immediate situation. In a safe, accepting and confidential environment I can support you to explore and understand those things in your life that are hindering and holding you back from being the person you want to be. I can enable you to devise new strategies and positive ways of coping in order to facilitate your personal growth and development, as you gain increasing self confidence and a more positive and cohesive sense of self.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, holding a Masters in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling from Queen Margaret University. I also hold a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling, which is validated by COSCA. Furthermore, I am a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA), with psychotherapy as my chosen field of application.

I completed four years of post graduate training with the Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Institute in Edinburgh (now Physis Scotland).

I hold a Certificate in Counselling Supervision, which was awarded to me by Physis Training in 2016.

I am registered with the UK Association of Transactional Analysis (UKATA) as a psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer with psychotherapy speciality (PTSTA). I provide clinical supervision to trainee counsellors and psychotherapists, and qualified practitioners. I am Co-Director of Physis Scotland, which is the only Transactional Analysis Registered Training Establishment in Scotland. I currently co-teach on the Foundation Year programme, which is the first year of Physis Scotland's COSCA validated Diploma in Counselling course.

I have worked in the field of mental health for many years, gaining an extensive range of experience. During my career, I've worked within the private and voluntary sectors gaining substantial knowledge and experience in working with and treating a variety of presenting issues including: depression, anxiety, stress, self-harm, eating disorders, sexual identity problems, addictions, & survivors of childhood trauma, abuse & violence.

I have specialist training & considerable experience working in mental health, eating disorders, childhood trauma, abuse & domestic violence.

I have particular expertise in working with clients who have a Borderline process, and/or a formal diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder.
