About me
Dr Fiona draws on more than 9 years of experience across the NHS and charity sector, gaining experience in Dublin and London.
Fundamental to my practice is a compassionate and warm approach focusing on people’s strengths and helping people make sense of their experiences. I prioritise developing a safe, trusting and open therapeutic relationship. I am passionate about embracing the uniqueness of each individual I work with, applying a person-centred approach. I explore what is important to people in their lives, drawing on various aspects of their identity (e.g. age, culture, religion, sexual orientation, gender, ability and socioeconomic background).
As a highly specialist clinical psychologist, I work with people who have experienced trauma, are struggling to get their needs met in relationships or struggling with how they feel day to day. I support people to enhance their relationships (e.g. where they are able to hold boundaries or get their needs met) and manage their mood day to day, to help them enjoy their life.
My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches. I have completed training in dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT). I can integrate these approaches in line with the goals and preferences of each person I work with.
I appreciate the courage it takes it takes to find a therapist. If you feel like my approach resonates with you feel free to reach out. We can start with a free 15-minute introductory phone call to see if we are a good fit for each other and go from there.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and the Society of DBT. I completed my doctorate of clinical psychology at Royal Holloway University of London and a postgraduate diploma in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) from Bangor University, Wales.
