My Counselling Philosophy
Thank you for visiting my profile page, which I hope will provide sufficient information to know if I may be able to help you. Reading this is a positive first step in seeking help.
I am a qualified, accredited counsellor, have professional memberships of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) and I am based in Andover, Hampshire.
I offer one:one, face:face counselling therapy for those times when you encounter and feel alone in, facing difficulties. I provide the freedom of an independent, trustworthy, confidential space to be listened to at a pace to suit your needs. I work in a collaborative, non-directive, accepting and non-judgemental way to help you gain understanding of your difficulty, supporting you in making and establishing helpful and/or different choices and changes.
Friends and family may be able to listen to your problems and difficulties and yet sometimes having someone independent from those close to us is helpful to navigate a way through a difficult time of life.
Many people come to me for help with relationship issues at work and/or home, and experiences of overwhelming and incomprehensible feelings for which there seems to be no explanation such as anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias and depression.
My Counselling Model
I am an experienced integrative counsellor, using a framework which incorporates numerous models and interventions of counselling. This framework is 3 phase integrative and holistic, covering all aspects of your life, physical, emotional, volitional, rational, spiritual and relational. I respect a client’s autonomy and right to make their own decisions in all aspects of life. As we are all unique it is important to my counselling therefore I to match interventions appropriately and carefully to your individual needs and that work best for you.
Short Term Therapy
I am able to offer short term therapy which can be specific and goal-focussed counselling. This time limited work can be used explore and manage difficult emotions or relationships in a work situation such as workplace organisational changes including redundancy, role change, promotion, suspension.
Longer Term Therapy
I also offer longer term therapy with the duration determined by the client and dependent on their needs. These sessions are weekly then as part of ending counselling work become fortnightly then monthly which gives the time and space for changes identified through counselling to become learned, established and habituated, from unhelpful and unhealthy to helpful and healthy.
I offer a 50 minute exploratory assessment session which is a good opportunity for you to share about your challenging issues and for you to find out if we can work together in counselling and make the start of building a collaborative rapport. Coming to an exploratory session is a big step in reaching out for help, and it is a positive first step. Please feel free to contact me, my contact details are phone: 07955 754256 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
