About me

Hello, thank you for visiting my page.

I’m Fiona and I’m a Nottingham-based psychotherapist, offering counselling online, over the phone and face-to-face in The Park.

Life can get on top of us all and you might be going through a tough time right now. Although it can be scary deciding you'd like counselling, the process really can help you to get to a better place so you can move forward positively.

You might be considering long-term therapy, or you might just want one session to offload. Whatever you're looking for, I can help; feel free to contact me for a free 20-minute introductory conversation.

There are many different approaches to counselling. I work with adults using a humanistic, person-centred approach. You'll be at the heart of your sessions; I won’t tell you what to do, make assumptions about you, or place expectations on you. Instead, I will support you to find your own answers, being by your side to process and explore your experiences.

It is important to me to establish a warm, compassionate and genuine therapeutic working relationship with you. I encourage you to take responsibility for your thoughts and actions by creating an environment where we can explore your experiences, feelings and concerns together. I can offer you a safe, supportive and confidential space.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MA in Person Centred Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Nottingham and I have volunteered at the Human Flourishing Project in Nottingham since 2019.

Before training as a therapist, I worked in HR for the BBC.  I wasn’t satisfied in the corporate world, and only enjoyed the parts of my job where I could relate to, and help others in some way.

When a life-changing event happened in my personal life, I had a lengthy period of counselling.  Experiencing the benefits of therapy first-hand, combined with my yearning for work to be fulfilling and rewarding, inspired me to re-train as a counsellor.

I have a particular interest and experience in working with clients who have experienced loss and bereavement. I have experience of working with a wide range of clients with numerous concerns, including:
Alcohol and drug addiction, adultery, anxiety, bullying, depression, identity, meaning and purpose, loss and bereavement, low self-esteem, personal growth, personality disorders, physical and mental abuse, post-natal depression, PTSD, relationship and interpersonal issues, sexuality, suicidal thoughts, terminal illness, trauma, work and career issues.
