About me

I am a fully qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor,  my private online and telephone counselling practice is based near Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.

My professional qualifications and training, together with many years of client work and teaching, means I have knowledge and experience of many models of counselling and can offer the most appropriate counselling for a particular client’s case.

I feel I have a 'real life' approach towards clients and their issues. The aim of my work is to help people who have become unhappy or feel ‘stuck’ to explore ways they can help themselves to make beneficial changes and become more resourceful to deal with life events.

I am able to offer clients both counselling and coaching sessions. The sessions focus on clients being listened to in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where the core conditions of Person Centred Counselling - respect, empathy and genuineness - are paramount. The therapeutic relationship formed between us helps clients to identify how their issues are impacting upon their well being and their lives, and to the choices that are open to them. Through this, clients often find that they are more aware of their options, their feelings of powerlessness are reduced and positive changes are made.

I offer short and long term counselling to individuals aged 18 years and above.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor having graduated from The University of Manchester in 2004 with a Post Graduate Advanced Diploma in Counselling.

I have an Honours Degree in Behavioural Sciences from The University of Huddersfield (1995) and I am also a qualified teacher (Pg Cert Ed) of counselling, personal development subjects e.g. assertiveness and confidence building, and social sciences for students of 16 years and over.

I am also a Certified Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming.

I have experience of working with clients from different social backgrounds, ethnicity, sexuality and age groups.   My work has included facilitating clients with a wide range of issues, included in these are the following specialist areas of work and experience:

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
