About me

I am an experienced and fully qualified integrative counsellor / psychotherapist for young people of all ages and offer support and relief from overwhelming and confusing feelings that leave them feeling vulnerable. I offer long-term and short-term therapy for all ages from my garden room in Warlingham, Surrey (near Croydon).

What can I help with?

Young people have much to contend with in their journey towards self discovery, independence and adulthood.

They can experience parental separation and divorce, trauma, abuse, bereavement or loss, bullying and other issues at school, caring for adults, parental illness, family, relationship and friendship issues, gender curiosity, change and transition, exam stress, drink / drug abuse, sex issues, loneliness,

Their frustration can be communicated in their sadness, anger, depression, anxiety, panic, low self-esteem and confidence, self hatred, lack of resilience and assertiveness, attachment difficulties, self-harm, disordered eating, phobias, behaviour problems, addiction, OCD, suicidal thoughts...

... and much more.

I am specifically trained to work with children and young adults with all of these issues and more, including looked after children.

How I work

My approach is child-led, and with the use of verbal communication, creative materials and play children and adolescents can work through and express their feelings.  By child-led I mean that the sessions are led by the child or young adult, at their pace and are tailored to each individual and their ability and needs.  I do however draw from a number of therapeutic methods so my approach is integrative in nature and based around play, art, person-centred and CBT therapeutic techniques and psychodynamic thinking.

The space

I offer a warm, safe, calm, comfortable, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk, play and create, whatever each child or young adult feels comfortable doing.  My room is wheelchair accessible and is a well thought out space equipped to compliment all age groups with lots to discover, do and discuss.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
