Fay Fawke BACP, NCS - Qualified Nurse
Are you feeling alone, angry, anxious, frustrated or depressed? Overwhelmed by emotions and not sure where to go, or what decision to make? Leading to feeling low in mood and unhappy?
If so, talking therapy may be able to help.
Sometimes it can be useful and easier to talk to someone from outside of your circle of family and friends. Who, can actively listen and help you to explore your feelings and emotions. These feelings and emotions may be tangled and confused and you don’t even know why!
A problem can feel so enormous, unmanageable, painful and distressing.
However, this can be worked on step by step in small parts breaking down what seems so big into achievable goals. Helping to boost your confidence and reduce anxiety. Coming to talk is the first step forward.
Counselling is Talking Therapy and I am trained in an Integrative approach. This means I have a range of different talking models that I can adapt to suit your needs.
Working together you will identify solutions or strategies to help you make changes in your life.
Some specific techniques can be learned and become easier with practice.
Breathing Techniques, which help you to focus on your rhythmic breathing and can be very effective to calm and relax you.
Progressive muscle relaxation will help you focus or relaxing and tensing your muscles which will help you recognise when you are tense and your stress levels are rising.
Imagery and visualisation this can help you to recall past experiences when you were happy and peaceful. Recalling that moment can make you feel calmer and happier in the here and now or present.
My role is not to give advice but to listen, offering support and encouragement In a safe, warm, non-judgmental space where you can talk freely in the strictest of confidence about your thoughts, feelings, issues or concerns.
