About me

Are you feeling alone, angry, anxious, frustrated or depressed? Overwhelmed by emotions and not sure where to go, or what decision to make? coping with a bereavement a relationship issue, or you just don't know what! This feeling is leading to low mood, feeling unhappy or sad.

Sometimes it can be useful and easier to talk to someone from outside of your circle of family and friends. someone neutral. Who, can listen and help you to explore and understand your issues and feelings. These feelings and emotions may be tangled and confused and you don’t even know why!

A problem can feel so enormous, unmanageable, painful and distressing.

However, this can be worked on step by step in small parts breaking down what seems so big into achievable goals. Helping to boost your confidence and reduce anxiety. Talking and accepting Counselling is the first step forward to acceptance and moving forward towards change.

I will support you with whatever you bring to each session as a friendly and ethical practitioner.

I am trained Integrative Counsellor. This means  I have a range of different models that I can adapt to suit your needs.

I am a member of the National Counselling Society accredited register and a member of BACP.

I am trained anxiety management counsellor who can give you support and teach techniques to manage stress and anxiety.

I am a trained Nurse and have specialised in Cancer Care I have worked extensively with people who are  bereaved over the loss of a partner, family member friend or colleague, and those that have had a Cancer diagnosis themselves.

I am specialised in Psychosexual issues, this could be mechanical or psychological. Having someone to listen with ease and without judgment is really important.

I work with a wide range of issues, anxiety depression. low self esteem. loss bereavement, low mood, work stress, sexual issues, and change of life events.

Successful Therapy is the relationship between Counsellor and Client. Its really important you feel at ease. Working together in a safe supported environment we can explore the issues that you bring. Identify solutions or strategies to help you make the changes. Leading to a happier life. My role is not to give advice but to listen, offering support and encouragement in a safe, warm, non-judgmental space. where you can talk in the strictest confidence.

I work evenings and weekends for those that find it difficult within the working hours.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an accredited counsellor/Psychotherapist with the National Counselling Society, (NCS) and a member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am a qualified hypnotherapist and member of the National Hypnotherapy Society, I am also a qualified specialist Registered General Nurse in Cancer Care. Part of my training was with Mind and the NHS.

I have attended many Professional Development courses within Mind and the NHS.

Successful Therapy can only work if you feel safe and supported and connected to your counsellor. I offer a safe, non-judgmental environment where together we can explore issues, and concerns that you would like to bring.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am a qualified Nurse and Integrative counsellor. I have had many years as a specialised Cancer Nurse. I have been able to use these skills to help those that have had a diagnosis of Cancer, side effects of Cancer and the effects on body image.

This has led me to specialise in Psychosexual issues. Anxiety, Loss and depression.

Fees

I offer short or long-term therapy, and I offer evenings and weekends. My Fee is £40 for 60minutes.

Individual sessions can be week day, evenings and weekends. and can be short or long term depending on your needs.

We will discuss frequency of sessions and how long  therapy may be at the beginning and monitor during therapy.

Fees are payable at each session and will be charged if cancellation within 48 hours of failure to attend.
