About me

Hi, my name is Fareen and I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor. My aim is to help you to take ownership of your life choices so that you can create the life you want to live.

You might be feeling dissatisfied, confused or anxious. Perhaps you are going through something difficult and unsure of what to do about it. We can often feel stuck and overwhelmed, and it helps to have a supportive and open space to share what's going on. I will work with you to build a trusting relationship so that you can feel supported in your next steps.

Training, qualifications & experience

My therapeutic approach is integrative, which means that I draw upon elements from a range of psychological theories. This enables me to facilitate my clients' self-awareness so that they can better understand their experiences, ways of coping and identify their needs.

Together, we can explore and make meaning of what feels important to you so that you can move towards a more fruitful way of living.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

How does it work?

I offer a free 15 minute consultation where you can ask me any questions you might have about therapy and share what you hope to get out of it.

If you feel that I am the right match for you, we can then proceed to have our first session, also known as an initial assessment. This is an opportunity for us to meet and begin to get a sense of how we might work together. We will also explore some of the issues you wish to bring and what can be offered through therapy to help support and facilitate your current needs.
