Fabio Valenti, Psychotherapist, MBACP, (MSc, PG. Dip)
I help people with all sorts of issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, loneliness, bereavement, sleep issues, or just a desire to know yourself better. I specialise in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, helping people explore their history, childhood, attachment patterns, and how these relate to current problems. My work is based primarily on compassion and empathy.
I hold an MSc. in Theoretical Psychoanalytics from UCL, and a PG Dip. in Psychodynamic Practice from the University of Oxford. I also work as an Honorary Psychotherapist for the NHS in addition to my private practice.
Psychodynamics uses a model of the unconscious psyche, and is more like a journey than a prescriptive tool. I work with you, helping you to derive meaning and make sense of both past and present, enabling you to build the tools you need to overcome whatever struggle you are facing.
This form of therapy and counselling is long term and works best with people who are ready to make a commitment to themselves. Many people who have tried CBT and have found that it hasn't worked for them often do better in Psychodynamic therapy.
-About Me -
Unlike many therapists, psychodynamic therapists are required to have their own ongoing therapy for as long as we practice. I hope this helps my clients feel assured that I understand what it is like to be in the other chair.
Whatever the problem you are welcome to contact me to arrange an initial chat where I can better help answer any questions you might have.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice, University of Oxford (2019).
- MSc in Theoretical Psychoanalytics, UCL (2016).
- Post-Graduate Certificate in Counselling, Birkbeck University of London (2013).
I have over 450 hours of clinical experience and have undergone 5 years of training.
I am a member of the BACP and the UPCA.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
My standard rate is £80 per session, but I offer a reduced fee of £50 to those on a low income.
Concessions offered for
I see patients privately, in a peaceful and confidential room within a beautiful Grade 1 listed building, directly opposite Chancery Lane tube station. There are toilet facilities and a cafe at the bottom to relax in before or after your session.
Whatever the issue is, you are welcome.
