I have worked with children, young people and families since I qualified as an art teacher in 1980, mostly with children and young people with emotional and behavioural problems and special needs. I trained as a therapist in order to have the opportunity to work with their problems in a deeper way. In the training I studied aspects of human development, such as pregnancy, birth, parents, infants, children, adolescents, and family life, alongside having an individual analysis over seven years.
In 2013 I completed a further analytic training as a couple psychotherapist which enabled me to work in depth with adults and their relationships.
In my work as a therapist, I am always reminded of the creative possibilities in each individual. The development of the relationship with the therapist leads to greater understanding of the difficulties that have previously prevented the individual, or the couple, feeling understood and accepted.
Training, qualifications & experience
After training as a child and adolescent psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic in 2001, I have worked in the NHS, offering individual therapy, and consultation to social services, residential children's homes and schools.
Whilst working as a Consultant in Kent, I did a further training as an analytic couple psychotherapist at Tavistock Relations, which I completed in 2013. Currently I work for Tavistock Relationships as an online therapist.
I am registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists, and the British Psychoanalytic Council.
