About me

I am a qualified, experienced therapist. I offer a warm, non judgemental, empathic space where you feel comfortable listened to and understood.  I work together with you in the process so that we can reflect deeply on your emotions, feelings and  concerns,  gaining insight, to enable you to flourish as your authentic self, finding your true inner self.

HOW COUNSELLING CAN HELP

You may be feeling down, anxious, unmotivated and uncomfortable with a range of negative feelings. You may feel you need a safe, impartial space to work through what's troubling and holding you back, and gain a clearer perspective and insight into behaviour patterns and coping mechanisms that no longer serve you.

I believe there is no single therapeutic style that holds all the answers so I work with an integrative approach, combining humanistic and psychodynamic theory. This allows me to tailor the work to your individual needs.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FIRST SESSION

Contacting a therapist is already a positive sign that you're ready to think about the issues you're grappling and suffering with.  However,  I understand that this step can be daunting and overwhelming. With this in mind I offer an initial consultation with myself where I can answer any questions you may have, and will also give you a sense of how I work and if you feel comfortable to proceed with me as your therapist.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in humanistic integrative counselling, a recognised British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, ( BACP), qualification. I'm a registered member and abide by their ethical framework.

I work in private practice and have experience with a range of difficulties, especially in the area of challenging  family dynamics, anxiety, as well as loss and bereavement. I have also worked in a care home for a number of years. I provided therapy there, especially with clients who have physical handicaps as they could not leave the facilities.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
