About me

I work with individuals and couples both online and face to face through my private practice Counselling Choices.

I like people to feel comfortable in the sessions so they feel that they can talk, so I hope that this comes across in your first session. You may be in a difficult place or crossroads and there may be decisions or choices that need exploring to help you move forward, away from the pain or challenge and to find clarity and answers for you individually or for your relationship. I am committed to walking with you on your journey.

I am a qualified, experienced and.. very human.. therapeutic counsellor, working to a high standard. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, graduate member of the British Psychological Society and accredited registrant of the National Counselling Society and work as a counsellor and supervisor according to their regulations and guidelines for good ethical practice.

My approach is integrative which means that I sometimes use different approaches such as CBT, according to what the client's needs are, but it is also mainly person-centred and this means my commitment to you is that you will be accepted not judged and I will be totally genuine with you often giving you feedback on your journey but without directing or advising you. It's about finding what works for you individually. I'm ready to do the journey with you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Whilst my approach is integrative, drawing from different theories according to the needs of individual clients, including Person Centred theory, Psychodynamic theory, Transactional Analysis, and CBT, some clients prefer a more structured approach for specific goals they would like to work towards in their life. This Solution Focused or Brief Therapy method is sometimes included in the way I work with certain clients in my counselling practice, when appropriate as well as with couples. Additionally, as a fully qualified life coach, I also offer life coaching as another separate service. I am also a qualified supervisor.

I take referrals from:

  • Individuals & couples.
  • Doctors.
  • Employee assistance programmes.
  • National Health Service.
  • Agencies & charities.
  • Schools, colleges and counselling students.
