About me

Hi, my name is Esmeralda and I am a qualified integrative counsellor with experience in depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addictions, loss and bereavement, abuse, trauma, low self-esteem and an understanding of autism and special needs.

I work with young people and adults, offering sessions in both English and Spanish and use a combined approach within counselling. This includes Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy (sometimes referred to as humanistic) and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Counselling is exploring thoughts and feelings about issues and concerns and having an opportunity to discover how to move forward in life. I can help you to explore your unconscious to discover how your past experience has informed your present and future. I want to help you to achieve your potential, which may require us to look to the past for patterns and also focus on helping you address present day behavioural patterns.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy mostly focuses on changing your present day behaviour to improve your moods and ability to cope. It focuses on the connection between thought, emotions, actions but perhaps also your physical wellbeing, social skills, and your sense of spirituality. I can also combine free association and dream analysis into our sessions if needed.

You can now book your first appointment/assessment on 07453-88866 or click here to fill out the contact form.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Testimonials

Esmeralda is an absolute expert at what she does - after trying dozens of different therapist without success, I truly believe that she was the only person who really helped me understand my condition and the results were seen almost immediately - would recommend her to anyone!

Easy to talk with and open up to, asks questions that help me consider my actions and way of thinking.

A good listener, and I appreciated her warmth and smile.
