Erica Pickering Accredited BACP Counsellor
***Currently all sessions available via Skype, email or telephone.***
I have many years experience working as a Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am a registered and accredited member of BACP so you can be sure of my competent and ethical practice.
I offer short term or longer term counselling to both adults and young people, as well as supervision of counsellors, psychotherapists and others in the counselling professions. I offer client and supervision sessions in person and also via Skype. Talk and Walk sessions available as appropriate, this can be discussed during an initial session.
Much of my work in recent years has been delivered online. I find that this can be a really convenient way for people to access counselling, and supervision, in their busy lives. This may be an option you would like to explore whether in the UK or overseas.
I believe that counselling should be both personal and professional. I bring my mix of warmth, genuineness and care, alongside professional qualifications, my own supervision and BACP accreditation.
- DBS check
- BACP accreditation as well as registration
- Online sessions
- Walk and Talk sessions (as appropriate)
- Regular personal supervision
I worked for a number of years training counsellors and have experience of counselling those currently in training.
I'm happy to have a brief conversation on the phone, where I may be able to answer any questions you might have about counselling, the way I work, or something else that might help you decide on your next step into counselling.
I offer sessions starting between 9am and 2pm during school term times only. It may be possible to have sessions outside of these times on occasion, this can be discussed during our initial appointment, or as our sessions continue. ***Currently sessions available at any times as I am aware people's schedules and childcare responsibilities are changed***
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified with an honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Warwick and went on to obtain a Post Graduate Award in Working Therapeutically with Children and Young People. As such I am able to offer counselling and psychotherapy to adults, young people and children.
I have a diploma in Counselling Supervision. I offer supervision to both experienced counsellors, as well as those training to become counsellors, I can also support you through your accreditation processes.
I have worked for a number of years in varying counselling agencies, with clients from all walks of life, experiencing a number of issues including depression, anxiety, loss and bereavement, relationship and family issues, bipolar disorder, panic disorder and phobias.
I have extensive experience working online as a counsellor, both with clients in the UK and overseas.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
