Eric Medcalf - UKCP, MBACP
I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with 35 years experience in short and long term work with individuals with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, loss, trauma and personal challenges; and also couples going through relationship crises, separation or divorce.
I enjoy working with a wide range of issues, especially those connected with times of change in people's lives: whether in relationships, work or personal aspirations. I particularly enjoy working with young people and artists from many fields. (Students and working artists with low income would be eligible for a reduction in fee).
I also enjoy working with older people as they make sense of their lives (appointments can be made in residential homes).
Having worked in both private practice and public sector settings in the UK and overseas I am familiar with the challenges of the modern workplace.
My therapeutic style is varied, depending on the issue presented and the client's own styles of thinking, relating and experiencing their emotions. My psychodynamic training leads me to understand current issues as they relate to earlier experience; yet I will also work with patterns that emerge from present stressors and experiences, using techniques from cognitive therapies.
My consulting room is located close to the Park/Charing Cross area of Glasgow's West End. There are weekday metered parking bays and frequent bus services. The nearest subway is St. Georges Cross.
Evening and Saturday appointments can be arranged.
