Emma Roberts - BA(Hons), Dip(HE.Couns)
Houldsworth Business & Arts Centre
My name is Emma Roberts. I am a qualified; Stockport-based, BACP member, Person-Centred Counsellor. Whilst I am passionate about the Person-Centred approach and the core humanistic values of placing the client at the centre, I also have an integrated approach and seek inspiration from various other therapeutic models in order to meet all the needs of my clients.
My skills and specialised areas are working with; mild depression and anxiety, mild mental health and eating disorders, survivors of sexual abuse, emotional abuse or neglect, loss, grief, bereavement, anger, family and relationship issues, and issues around self-worth and self-esteem.
How I can help you
As a person-centred counsellor - I believe that every individual has the capacity to find the meaning, answers and clarity they are looking for, within themselves. My role is to facilitate and help you find your way there. I do this by providing a safe space for you to explore how you feel and challenge yourself to look in places you perhaps have not looked deeply before. I believe that being heard, accepted and supported is a powerful tool when embarking upon a new journey of self-discovery and healing. I hope that I can go on that journey with you.

First of all, we will meet for ½ hour to see if my therapeutic approach is right for you. This will cost £15. Then, we will meet for an initial 1-hour session to discuss hopes, fears, goals and risk. This will cost £40. Only after this session would you then need to commit to weekly, 1-hour sessions, costing £40 per session.
Houldsworth Mill - where my therapy space is located, is a wonderful and vibrant place. It is only 1.5 miles from Stockport town centre, 4 miles from Manchester city centre and less than a mile from the A6. Once at the mill there are a number of small business and facilities that can be accessed; Ample parking, shops, a gym, swimming pool and café and only a short walk to Broadstone Mill shopping Centre. Perhaps making your weekly visit to the mill for your therapy session a more holistic experience of relaxation and 'you' time.
