Emma Roberts - MBACP, BA(Hons), Dip(HE.Couns)
Houldsworth Business & Arts Centre
My name is Emma Roberts. I am a fully qualified and insured; Stockport-based, BACP registered member (MBACP), Person-Centred counsellor. As a Person-Centred counsellor, I believe that every individual has the capacity to find the meaning, answers and clarity they are looking for, within themselves. My role is to facilitate and help you find your way there. I do this by listening and providing a safe space for you to explore how you feel and challenge yourself to look in places that perhaps you have not been aware of before. I believe that being heard, accepted and supported is a powerful tool when embarking upon a new journey of self-discovery and healing. I hope that I can go on that journey with you.
How I can help you.
I became a counsellor because I am at my best when I am engaging with others. In my working career, I have undertaken a wide range of roles, all with one common purpose – supporting and helping people. I am an accepting and calm person who finds fulfilment in entering another person’s world and seeing the world through their eyes, emboldening them to open up, with a view to grow in self-awareness and love. I have worked with people from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds and I do not judge. By providing these conditions it is possible that together, clients can reach their goals.

The way I work is to get together for an initial ‘meet and greet’ ½ hour session. This costs £15. In this session we work through my client agreement and discuss my therapeutic approach to see if it is right for you.
If you are happy to continue in therapy with me, we would meet for our 1st session. My sessions are for 1 hour, usually once a week, and cost £40. In the first session, we discuss hopes, fears, goals and expectations and check out your suitability for therapy. After 6 sessions, together we will review our therapeutic relationship and discuss our next steps. Payments are usually made via BACS.
Houldsworth Mill - where my therapy space is located, is a wonderful and vibrant place. It is only 1.5 miles from Stockport town centre, 4 miles from Manchester city centre and less than a mile from the A6. Once at the mill there are a number of small business and facilities that can be accessed; Ample parking, shops, a children’s play centre, a gym, swimming pool and café and only a short walk to Broadstone Mill shopping Centre.
