About me
Hello,
I wonder if you’ve ever felt hampered by your own insecurities and dragged low by that same lack of self-belief? Most of us lose our way and struggle to get back on the right path from time to time. But if this feels like a constant pattern then perhaps it’s time to get the help you deserve.
As a psychotherapist and counsellor, I have had the joy and good fortune to spend the past 15 years working in both the NHS and further education sector as well as having my own private practice. I have developed a set of clinically proven skills to enable clients to understand the parts of themselves which might be holding them back and to cut through the endless stream of self-criticism. My job is to help the people I see grow a genuine sense of self-worth and to experience greater confidence both in their futures and the world around them. A vital part of the journey is learning to cope more effectively with the feelings of fear, anger, guilt, and shame that often arise when we when we put ourselves under pressure.
My structured approach might be particularly helpful if you want to:
- Take advantage of a dynamic approach focusing on specific goals within a defined time period
- Experience the deep relief of finally being able to make sense of your struggles
- Attune to how past difficulties have imprinted themselves on your emotions, and the way you “feel” within your body
- Put into practice some practical strategies to change and modify these reactions to enhance the quality of life
- Talk about difficulties without feeling ashamed, overwhelmed, or defined by them.
My work is informed by a number of humanistic therapeutic approaches, and I have a particular interest in Parts Theory and Somatic based techniques. I'm also a trained Mindfulness teacher, and I like to incorporate some of this into my work.
Previous clients have been kind enough to describe me as warm and approachable, with a down to earth manner which makes "going to counselling" seem a little less scary!
I have a busy practice, but when I’m not working, I really enjoy gardening, painting and walking my cocker spaniel –in other words - the typical interests of a women in her 50s!
If you’d like to find out more about me and the way I work, or put a toe in the water of the “therapy world”, please do get in touch to arrange an initial 30 minute online session. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
